Hello World, we’re PixelCount Studios!

PixelCount Studios, developers of Kynseed, is one of the studios that sprung from Lionhead Studios' ashes. Based in England, our studio was founded by two Lionhead veterans who were involved in every Fable game, Black & White, and The Movies (among others).

PixelCount's first game project is Kynseed, a 2D sandbox RPG full of quirk and charm. While invoking the spirit of past Fable games, Kynseed is infused with new ideas and a mix of British folklore, ancient legend, and rustic traditions. We've tried to capture these inspirations in an atmospheric world with whimsy, humour, and eccentricity, and not a single orc or high elf in sight.

Our goal as a studio is to continue the spirit of Lionhead with charming, humorous, and ever-so-slightly eccentric games. We're not interested in fleecing you with DLC, withholding cool stuff, or being overly secretive about what we're doing.

Neal Whitehead

Co-founder and Tech Director responsible for the code team and our tech base. Lionhead alumni and disco dancer.

Gary Lucken

Art genius. Gary created all the in-game characters. Oh, and the Key Art.

Nuff said.

Clare Wright

QA Lead and design assistant. Clare tests, finds bugs then designs systems to explain them away. Loves horses.

Nick Gregory

Code guru. Much more than that, though, Nick is a great designer and all-round indie games maestro.

Charlie Edwards

Co-founder and Design Director, also responsible for words and puns. Lionhead alumni and games geek.

Fawn Rowe

Our Community Manager. Fawn looks after our beloved gamers on Steam, Discord etc, answering questions and dropping much knowledge.

Matt Weekes

Artist and Designer.  Mr Weekes, as we respectfully call him, has drawn all our environments from day 2 and designed many of Kynseed’s great features.

Jesse Gill

A specialist coder, he is based in Australia, not that we’d know as he always seems to be coding for the team. All game events and more are thanks to Jesse.

Matthew Woodley

MD. Started in the games industry in 1985 as a teenager and has managed to hang around ever since. Matthew’s role is to help the talented team make the best game possible.

Caroline Hoyle

Caz is an icon artist. In fact, she’s an iconic icon artist. You’ll see her work throughout Kynseed. You’ll know it’s hers as you’ll be thinking, ‘that looks cool’.

Sir Ian Livingstone

Chairman. Ian noticed that we’d included him as an NPC in the game, got in touch and ended up joining as our design guide, business mentor, investor and Chairman.

Harvey Carman

Our musician and orchestrater of many of the delightful sounds in Kynseed. His work is the final ingredient that makes Quill a beautiful place to visit.
